Paddy, a chestnut with a white star, is 16 hands high. He is a Standardbred with a beautiful, kind and loving nature. He was too slow on the track as a pacer, and luckily a New Zealander who looks and talks an awful lot like Crocodile Dundee, bought him.
He took him trekking all over New Zealand and Paddy even enjoyed a stint as a pack horse. At only 8 he is easy going and playful. He loves water, so beach and river riding are his specialty.
He is a wonderful addition to our beautiful herd of horses.
Onyx, a lovely and kind 13 year old mare, is a Standardbred who is 15.2 hands high. Her Sire is Bright Well and her Dam is Chiola Charm. In color she's a gorgeous jet black, and has a white, barb-wire pattern on her back. This pattern is found on the American Mustang, to whom the Standardbred is historically related.
Onyx, who never raced, was meant to be a broodmare although she never had a foal. I was lucky enough to buy her about 2 years ago. She is a very long-bodied horse with very smooth gaits and she is very level headed, nothing fazes her.
Nugget is a very affectionate, alert, 15.2 hand mare that listens well to the rider. She is very light off the legs and has a very complying nature. A gorgeous girl, she is a dun, and very solidly built. Four years ago, Nugget was mustered off a big station in Wellington and has is what is termed "Stationbred" in her bloodlines. Bred for their hardy constitution, level headed attitude and excellent trainability.
The Stationbred is a great all around horse. To top it all off, she is only 8 years old, our solid "Nugget of gold".
(pronounced Mo-ah-naw, a Maori name meaning ocean, big lake)
Mustered off a Tologa Bay, East Coast station, Moana inherits special powers: a calm, quiet, sensible approach and is the star of our stables. Although she is only 4, she can be trusted to take children as young as 6 on any of our treks. She has a big heart, soft, kind eyes, and wisdom beyond her years. Out on trails, Moana tucks in behind the other horses, and meanders into the waves, rivers, and through the grape vines to the winery , happily enjoying the time out and the people with her.
